Steinway Galleries Australia is pleased to announce the 2026 Youth Piano Competition, open to young pianists aged 6 to 17 years who are Australian residents, currently living in Australia.
Young pianists will first enter by submitting a video online. Approved entries will then be included in People’s Choice voting. Selected finalists will be invited to perform live at Steinway Gallery Melbourne, where the winners will be announced on the day.
How the competition works:
- Participants submit a video performance online during the entry window: 13 July to 31 August 2026.
- Approved videos will be published for People’s Choice, public voting, which runs from 1 September to 16 October 2026.
- Steinway Galleries Australia Management will select up to six performers from each age group to take part in the live final round.
- Finalists will be announced on 4 September 2026.
- The live final round will be held at Steinway Gallery Melbourne on Saturday, 17 October 2026, from 12.30pm.
- Winners will be announced on that day.
Important entry details:
- The competition is divided into two age groups: 6 to 11 years and 12 to 17 years.
- Each participant may submit one entry only.
- Performances must be played on a Steinway & Sons, Boston, or Essex piano.
- Entrants under 18 must have parent or guardian consent.
- The People’s Choice winner is decided by public voting.
- Final round performers are selected separately by Steinway Galleries Australia Management.
