5 of 6 Finalists Choose Steinway for Their Sydney International Piano Competition Final Performances

On 21st July, the results of the piano selection were announced. Five out of the six finalists had chosen to perform on the Steinway & Sons piano, while the remaining finalist had opted for the Shigeru Kawai.

The Sydney International Piano Competition is renowned as one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. The final performances are always highly anticipated due to their exceptional artistic calibre. For this year’s competition, the six finalists were given the opportunity to choose which piano to perform on for their final performance. They had three options: Steinway & Sons, Shigeru Kawai, and Fazioli. This was a critical decision, as their chosen instrument could significantly impact their performance.

On 21st July, the results of the piano selection were announced. Five out of the six finalists had chosen to perform on the Steinway & Sons piano, while the remaining finalist had opted for the Shigeru Kawai. This is a testament to the superior quality of Steinway & Sons pianos, and we are incredibly proud that the majority of the finalists chose our piano.

We congratulate all of the finalists on their remarkable achievements in making it this far in the competition. We wish them the best of luck for the announcement of the winners tonight, 22 July, at the Sydney Opera House.

We would also like to give a special congratulations to our piano technician, Vahe Sarmazian, for his stellar performance in preparing our Steinway & Sons Model D-274 concert grand piano for this world-class event and a fantastic result for Steinway Australia.
