The 2024 Australian National Piano Award Event at Steinway Gallery Melbourne

On the 5th of June, Steinway Galleries Australia hosted the Announcement for the Finalists of the 2024 Australian National Piano Award (ANPA) in conjunction with the Greater Shepparton City Council at our Steinway Gallery in Melbourne. 

The evening was highlighted by outstanding performances, heartfelt speeches, and the presence of esteemed guests, fostering a captivating atmosphere filled with celebration and excitement.

OPENING REMARKS

At the start of the evening, Steinway Galleries Australia CEO Mark O’Connor warmly welcomed the guests, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable night. He expressed his gratitude to the attendees and conveyed his appreciation on behalf of Steinway Galleries Australia for being the piano partner of the Australian National Piano Award.

After his opening speech, Mark then introduced the Greater Shepparton City Council, the principal partner for the Award, by playing a video that included messages from Cr Shane Sali, the Mayor of the Greater Shepparton City Council. In the video, Sali announced the 2024 Award finalists and encouraged everyone to visit Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley region.

MUSICAL HIGHLIGHTS

The evening featured remarkable performances by Australian pianists Ian Munro and Aura Go. Playing on a Steinway & Sons Model C-227 concert grand piano, their performance added a memorable musical dimension to the event, captivating the audience and showcasing the brilliance of Steinway & Sons pianos.

CLOSING REMARKS 

Damian Powell, a board member for the Australian National Piano Award, delivered a closing speech. Firstly, he expressed gratitude for the award partners, Steinway Galleries Australia and the Greater Shepparton City Council. He then acknowledged the 14 finalists for the 2024 Award, recognizing their dedication and achievements.

Continuing his speech, Powell shared insights into the significance and impact of the award, highlighting its role in nurturing musical talent and fostering cultural enrichment. At the end, Powell thanked the guests who joined tonight’s event at Steinway Gallery Melbourne, emphasizing their presence and contribution to the evening’s success.
