Black and White Night at Steinway Gallery Melbourne

Steinway Gallery Melbourne hosted the Black and White Night on the 16th of May, celebrating the showcasing of the unique Black and White Model B-211 Spirio Grand Piano. This exclusive event delighted guests with an evening of elegance and exceptional music, featuring a captivating performance by the talented 11 year old Australian pianist, Dillon Chan.

The gallery was beautifully decorated in black and white, reflecting the event’s theme and creating a sophisticated ambiance. Guests, dressed in elegant black and white attire, enjoyed a truly immersive experience.

OPENING REMARKS

At the beginning of the event, Mark O’Connor, CEO of Steinway Galleries Australia, warmly welcomed the guests. He expressed his gratitude to the attendees and introduced the Steinway Spirio and Spirio | r, highlighting their unique features. Mark explained that the Spirio is the world’s finest high-resolution player piano, while the Spirio | r also allows for recording and playback with unparalleled accuracy.

The audience was also treated to a mesmerizing performance of Davell Crawford‘s “Let it Be” by Mark on the exquisite black and white B-211 Spirio piano, showcasing the instrument’s exceptional sound and the artistry of its craftsmanship.

Judy Longley, the secretary and co-founder of the Australian National Piano Award, also graced the event with a heartfelt speech. She shared the rich history of the Australian National Piano Award, highlighting its commitment to nurturing brilliant young classical pianists.

MUSICAL HIGHLIGHTS

The atmosphere got even better with Dillon Chan, who won the 2022 Steinway Youth Piano Competition. Dillon played beautiful classical pieces during the event, creating a lovely and enjoyable setting for everyone. His talent was clear to see and made a big impression on the audience.

Following Dillon’s performance, CEO Mark O’Connor shared his personal music journey, captivating the audience with his inspiring story. He then performed a heartfelt rendition of Adele’s “Easy on Me,” accompanied by a stunning video presentation, adding a modern and emotive touch to the evening.
